Arwyp Medical Centre held its first annual long service awards on Friday 25 January 2007 in the staff dining room at the hospital. The ceremony was opened by Margaret Ireland, the human resources manager and each of the executive managers presented the members of their departments who were eligible for awards. Germant Geldenhuis, a learner at Jeugland High School, began the proceedings by singing a medley of songs.
The awards were presented by Arwyp CEO, Otto Wypkema, and 116 staff members received awards 10, 15 and 20 years of service to the hopsital. In his address Mr Wypkema thanked everyone receiving awards for their commitment to the hospital. He said that the hospital itself was only an empty shell and the staff members themselves are what make the hospital. The guests were treated to snacks in the courtyard after the ceremony.
