26 June 2008 was International Day against Drug Abuse. Marie Vermaak and twelve PEN2 08:01 learners from the ATI participated in the event. The focus of the day was the prevention of teenage drug use and advising parents regarding the signs and symptoms of drug abuse in children and how to handle the situation.

7 learners rotated hourly in the foyer of the hospital and handed out pamphlets to the public (230 at the hospital), 2 learners handed out pamphlets in the dining hall and 3 learners and Marie went to the Festival Mall from 08h00 to 16h00 and handed out pamphlets to the community (200 pamphlets were distributed). 430 pamphlets were distributed in total.
